The topic of H7N9 is getting heater. Therefore, people should start review on your daily food consumed to discover the food relates to cancer, avoid it and stay healthy.
Regarding foods which have consistently been tagged as increased cancer risk are limited to red meat and Cantonese-style salted fish. Red meat, mainly beef, but not poultry and fish, is associated with a modest increase in colorectal cancer risk. Consumption of Cantonese- style salted fish has been found to be associated with the risk of nasopharyngeal cancer, which is very frequent in some populations of south-east Asia, particularly southern China.
Another issue related to food safety is dry storage foods such as grains, nuts, grains and peanut. Those dry foods can produce potent microbial carcinogen which is Aflatoxin B1 due to fungus Aspergilus flavus. Hence, it is very important to monitor the storage of dry foods to ensure the freshness and free from any fungus contamination.
It is advised to avoid processed foods intake such as sausage, nugget, bacon, hot dog or ham. Those foods contains sodium nitrite or sodium nitrate. Sodium nitrate or nitrate are food additive added by manufacture to retain the color of meat and to inhibit bacterial growth in the food. Both chemicals can break down into nitrosamines, substances with the potential to cause cancer. Besides, some unhealthy fast foods that commonly consumed by us such as french fries and potato chips can be a silent cancer killer for regular consumers. There is carcinogen of acrylamide generated from those fast foods.
I agree all these food items are harmful as it is, without the risk of cancer but now they are more dangerous. No one is asking you to stop eating them all together but just ones a month is good.
